The Differences Between Car Radio and Car Audio...

From the start of the auto era, if anybody knew how to put a home radio into their car it was pretty much the only option. These were usually DIY and tweaked versions of home radios, home stereos, that the typical tinkerer might have come up with. Rarely, if ever, was anything actually included in the initial manufacturing build of those older automobiles any time before the 50s/60s (it is difficult to find an exact date/model car that first shipped with a radio factory installed).

It's fascinating to think about how far and fast car radio technology has evolved.

You can't even really just call it "car radio" anymore, because it includes so much more than that. In the 60s there were reel-to-reel players which quickly evolved into 8-track cartridges, which then in turn also quickly evolved into cassette tapes by the late 70s. 1985 saw the first car CD player - now 28 years ago! After CDs arrived, it became clear that digital was the way to go and we soon saw car technology following the path of the computer system. Many of the same technologies have been used, and the trend of shrinking data down to the smallest phsyical units was very beneficial for car audio as portability was such a primary factor of consideration.

changing flat tire

This article is for all drivers out there... what will you do when you have a flat tire????

Do you know how to change a tire? It's different on most cars. And then there's that little *toy* tire somewhere in the back that you have to put on to get to where you are going (if it's not too far).It all depends on the type of vehicle you are driving. If it's a pickup truck, you're in luck. At least your spare will be either in the back of the truck, or, underneath the bed near the rear bumper. That could be good, or it could not be good. It all depends on where you are and which tire went flat, the front, or the rear.Anyway, let's assume you can get to it on a pickup.Usually, the manufacturer has it fastened up to the bottom of the bed with a cable that has a crank or twist mechanism.

If you are in a passenger car, or van, or station wagon you will find the spare tire in the back, or in the trunk (where you store your luggage when you go visit your in-laws).Usually the jack is stored with the spare but sometimes, like hers, the jack is under the flap in the floor bed and the spare is stored in the side panel.

Are You A Good Driver????

How will you know if you are a good driver???

Having a driver license doesn't tell everyone that you are a good driver it's only a basic knowledge that you must know before you are driving on the road but becoming a good driver is not easy...Do you have any knowledge of and obedience to traffic laws?? Take a look at this article and ask yourself if you are a good driver or not...

How will you know if you are a good driver???

basic rules of driving on the road
Drinking and Driving...

How To Be A Better Driver - Get Back To Basics
The most basic principle to be applied to ensure good driving is knowledge of and obedience to traffic laws. It is not difficult to understand the danger of traveling at an excessive rate of speed in residential areas and school zones. Being a good driver includes care for the safety of pedestrians as well as other drivers. Reviewing the current traffic laws and vehicle safety requirements can serve as a good refresher on many areas of driving likely forgotten. It is not pleasant to be traveling at a high rate of speed and have the vehicle ahead dropping pieces and parts which are now dangerous projectiles that can cause serious damage or even death. Traffic laws perform two basic functions in that they provide a level of management to aid in keeping traffic flowing smoothly, and more importantly driver safety. Traffic is chaotic enough with the traffic laws. Imagine the drive if there were no such management.

Tips For Women When Driving Alone

Be Safe On The Road: Tips For Woman Driver

We drive to the grocery store. We drive to pick the kids up at school. We drive to work. We assume we are safe and our cars will keep on running. Many of us just take these things for granted, that is, until it is too late.

Most of the safety tips to ensure your personal safety on the road are common sense. Pay attention. Lock your doors and windows. Be aware of your surroundings. Drive on well-travelled, lit roads. Do not blast your radio. Let someone know the routes you take. Carry your cell phone. Do not engage in a confrontation (road rage). Do not talk on your cell phone or text. Have a full tank of gas. If pulled over, ask for identification. Park your car near the door. Wear comfortable clothes and shoes. Carry a personal alarm.

In addition, you also need to know what to do when something happens to your car. You get a flat tire. Your battery dies. You are stuck in a snowstorm. Like many women, you may try to call your dad, husband, significant other or roadside assistance. While you may get in touch with someone, nothing happens instantly. For at least a little while, you are alone. Of course, there is also the situation in which your cell has no signal or you cannot reach anyone. You need to be prepared and you need to be safe.

So, whether you live in a rainy area like Seattle or in the deserts of Arizona it is important to remember the following collection of 9 tips when driving in the rain.

First of all, lets examine why driving in the rain is different. There are four main differences that require special attention and techniques:

How to keep your car last longer????

Important tips to help your car last longer...Here ins how!!!!

Finding the right car maintenance service, you can potentially save yourself thousands of dollars in the long run

Cars are not designed to run indefinitely without periodic car maintenance. If you wait until problems occur, you'll probably end up damaging your car and paying a lot more than if you take care of your car on a regular basis. By doing these simple maintenance tasks, you can expect to get years of service out of your car.

1. Change the oil according to the manufacturer's recommended car maintenance schedule. For most vehicles, this is every 3,750 miles or every three months, whichever comes first. Changing the oil ensures that your engine oil is clean and at the right levels, which helps the engine keep running smoothly.

2. Check the radiator to ensure it is full and have a professional check the level of anti-freeze in your cooling system. If it overheats, this can cause significant damage that you could have avoided with some basic cooling system maintenance.

The Importance of Fog Lights

Fog lights - your companion in bad weather

Fog lights - your companion in bad weather

A vehicle is required to move at all times and under all conditions. In daytime if there is bright sunshine one can easily move on without using artificial lights. At night or if the sky is overcast the driver has to use headlights to see on the road ahead of him. But if there is thick fog, or heavy rain, or snow, headlights would not suffice. Fog lights are used under such conditions. They are mounted on a car, or truck, or any other vehicle below the headlights. Their beam is directed at a level lower than the low beam headlights and they do not blind the driver coming from the opposite side. They are bright and yellow in color. Halogen lights and LED lights are also used in fog lights as they are much brighter. Nowadays HID (High Intensity Discharge) lights are also used. Some of these lights are purplish in color. Use of fog lights is essential for safe driving when weather is bad.
